West Souris River IWMP
The West Souris River Integrated Watershed Management Plan was approved by The Honorable Gord Macintosh, Minister of Conservation & Water Stewardship in 2012. The West Souris River integrated watershed management plan was developed in partnership with the West Souris River Conservation District, the Province of Manitoba and an engaged group of community stakeholders. The planning process extended over four years and was completed in 2012. The plan outlines goals and guidelines for municipalities, watershed residents, soil and water organizations, and other stakeholders to work towards conserving or restoring land, water, and protecting drinking water sources within the study area.

East Souris River IWMP
The East Souris River Integrated Watershed Management plan identifies big picture issues and sets long and short term priorities for improving the watershed. This plan was created by representatives from the watershed community who formed the Watershed Planning Advisory Team (WPAT). WPAT included watershed residents, local municipalities and government agencies who all came together to discuss watershed concerns and work together to develop long term solutions and goals for the watershed. The plan was the first of its kind in Manitoba and was completed in 2006.

Whitewater Lake IBA
Whitewater Lake is a globally significant Important Bird Area (IBA), situated between the towns of Deloraine and Boissevain in southwestern Manitoba, Canada. It is known as a major staging area for waterfowl, shorebirds, and Tundra Swans. Once known ‘White Lake’ because of its white alkali flats, it has been reported that Whitewater Lake provides habitat for over 110 species of birds as well as over 40 species of other wildlife. As a result of the high biodiversity found at Whitewater Lake, it has received a number of designations: It is recognized as a Canadian Important Bird Area of global significance. It is a Manitoba Wildlife Management Area. (WMA). It is recognized as a priority migratory bird habitat of Canadian importance for staging shorebirds and geese. It is a candidate of the Manitoba Heritage Marsh.
